29% PAY INCREASE FOR MLA's

Would you work here for $98,000 a year?

An inependent group consisiting of three people has recommended a whopping 29% increase for British Columbias MLA's. The study was commissioned after much outcry over a 15% increase which both parties agreed upon last year. The base rate for a 'regular' MLA is currently $76,000 per year, plus, of course travel, living and dining out expenses, all paid for by the taxpayer.
In the current day and age, where CEO's of banks etc. make in the millions, perhaps these wage increases are not out of line. If the higher rate attracts more competent people, then you could argue it is better for the province as a whole.
