During the recent Victoria Day weekend the following event ocurred in downtown Nanaimo.
A man was walking down Fitzwilliam Street when he came across a body lying on the sidewalk. He ran to a phone and called 911.
The Nanaimo operator asked him where he was and the man replied, “I’m on Fitzwilliam Street.”
“How do you spell that?” the operator asked.
“Fits..…” the man began. “No, F-i-t-s…..” no, Phizz...…. oh heck, let me drag him over to Front Street and I’ll call you back.”
