FIREWORKS BAN PASSED

City Council has voted to ban fireworks sales in Nanaimo with a 6-3 vote. It will still be possible to set off fireworks but you will need all of the proper permits which will effectively stop most people for setting off a few fireworks for May 24th, Canada Day or Halloween or anytime, for that matter.
Of course, no one will go to Ladysmith, Nanoose or Parksville to purchase fireworks, and then illegally set them off in Nanaimo.
So if you want to make a little racket, to celebrate a special occasion, you better break out the pots and pans and the wooden spoon.
