FIRST ON THE BEACH AT DEPARTURE BAY

SHAWN LAMOUREUX OF NANAIMO
With an unofficial time of just over 1 hour and 30 minutes was the first on the beach for the 41st Nanaimo Bathtub Race.
The rain held off and the sun actually made a few brief appearances. However, the wind conditions were less than ideal, with a gale warning being posted at one point.
Of the 51 brave souls who risked life and limb in the harrowing test of man against the sea, 32 were able to make the beach and 'ring the bell'.
Full details of all other winners and official times were not available at the time of this post.
