HOUSING/CONSTRUCTION STILL STRONG IN NANAIMO

New home starts in Nanaimo are only slightly off what they were last year. From January until June of this year there are 404 new units, which compares with 434 for the same period last year.
It is reported that the VIREB says Nanaimo's housing market is staying strong despite rising prices.
Nanaimo's average house price is $333,349 which still makes it a relative bargain compared to other Canadian centres.
It makes you wonder how first time home buyers view these bargain prices.
