114 YEAR OLD CHURCH GETS FRESH PAINT
Perched high atop a scissor lift platform, a painter applies fresh paint to the aging church at the corner of Fitzwilliam St. and Wesley St., in the Old City Quarter.
This church, popular for it's architecture and acoustics is the benefactor of $40,000 in grant money, with equal grants coming from the City of Nanaimo, and the BC Heritage Fund.
It is estimated it would take two million dollars to restore the building to it's former glory. Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated.
This project which has seen repairs to rotting window sills and new paint will be complete in another two or three weeks.
