PORT OF NANAIMO CENTRE GETS MORE FUNDING

NANAIMO CONVENTION CENTRE
GETS ANOTHER $4 MILLION BOOST

With the announcement Friday by the Provincial government of an additional $5 million funding for the Port of Nanaimo Convention Centre, the Island Coastal Economic Trust is clear to kick in another $4 million for the project.

The Trust had originally intended to fund $5 million with the caveat that more federal and provincial funding was forthcoming. When that did not happen the Trust reduced it's funding to $1 million.

This latest contribution by the provincial government makes it possible for the Trust to now increase it's funding to the original amount of $5 million from $1 million.

This week has been a great week for the city of Nanaimo, and a relief for city council members struggling with the citys finances.
