Vancouver Island Exhibition Looks for Local Talent

VIEX Launches Talent Search
For This Years Fair

The local press reports the VIEX lost approximately $60,000 for the 2007 season, with the cost of headliners contributing to the loss.

Poor weather resulting in fewer visitors last year also added to the problem. While exact numbers were not available last years attendance fell well short of the usual 200,000 they expected.

During it's more than 100 years of operation the fair has experienced 'bumps' before and is always able to bounce back.

VIEX director Paul Bates is reported as saying this year the fair will focus on local grown talent which should help the fair stabilize financially.

There is lots of good island talent who will have the opportunity to 'shine' this year at the VIEX.

The search for this years talent includes plans for a battle of the bands, a karaoke component, and 'senior idol' competition for those over 60 years of age.

So if you have talent and would like the chance to shine before a very large audience call Paul Bates at 250-756-2795 or email pbates@viex.ca for more information.
