Come On Nanaimo Time to Get Healthy!

It's HEALTHAMONGUS Time

Healthy eating and exercise are essential to good health. By teaching children at a young age how to make these healthier choices, these habits will allow children to make wise nutritional decisions the rest of their life.

Recognizing the importance of this education, School District 68 and Nanaimo Parks, Recreation, and Culture have partnered together for Healthamongus Days – May 5 – 9 at Beban Park Gyro Field.

Activities start daily from 9:30 am to 12:15 except for Friday. Friday is for Kindergarten children and the hours are from 9:30 to 11:30 am. During the five days of activities more than 5000 children between the ages of 5 and 12 will participate in the free activities.

The idea of creating a health and wellness event for children started in 2004 with Healthamongus (health among us) Days. The focus was on getting children moving through fun, non-competitive activities set up to highlight running, jumping, throwing, balancing, and pulling. School District 68 and Nanaimo Parks, Recreation, and Culture plan to continue this event well into the future as a great way to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for its young community members.
