Description of Hitchhiker
Who Assaulted Female Driver

Nanaimo RCMP have provided new details on an incident reported June 2, where a female was assaulted after stopping to pick up a hitchhiker, on Cedar Rd .


The 56 year old victim told investigators, she was struck multiple times in the head and only managed to flee her attacker after striking back and hitting him several times in the head.The victim also said, she bit the suspect on the hand or arm prior to exiting the vehicle. She was not sure though which hand or arm she bit him on.

The suspect is described as being, a First Nations male and may have walked from the Harewood area of Nanaimo earlier in the evening. The victim could smell liquor on his breathe and said he was approximately 5 ft 9, of slender build, had a pockmarked face and may have had some whiskers on his chin. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and black hoodie.

The most notable information gathered by investigators, is the suspect told the victim, his wife was giving birth to a baby boy in the next couple of days and he was going to naming the child after him.

Missing Youth Located

The female reported missing on June 7th by her father from her Nanaimo home, has been located in Nanaimo and is safe.

Brandyn Leigh Friesen, age 15, was located after several calls were received today by the Nanaimo RCMP today from members of the general public.Constable Chris Jensen, of the Nanaimo RCMP Youth Response Team attended to Friesen's location and spoke with her personally.She told Constable Jensen she has been staying with a local family and has no immediate plans to return home.Ministry of Children and Families were advised along with her father Cary Friesen.
