Rising fuel costs are being given as the reason for the surcharge which will come into effect on August 1 of this year.
No one can argue with the impact rising fuel costs have on our budgets but I still wonder how fuel efficient these new ferries are when it comes to the cost to move a person or vehicle across the water.
Perhaps one of the 'real' news media could follow up on this question and see what BC Ferries management has to say on the matter.
