Body found in Phone Booth on Haliburton St.

Foul Play Not Suspected

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating the discovery of a body located inside a phone booth in the 700 block of Haliburton St. A caller told police he saw a female who appeared to be sleeping inside the phone booth. Upon closer examination she appeared to be in distress so he called for police to attend. BC Ambulance attended along with police and determined the female had been dead for some time.

The female has not been positively identified but from papers located on her person she is believed to be in her late twenties and may reside in Port Alberni or Nanaimo. Investigating officers said the female showed recent drug usage and foul play is not suspected at this time.

BC Coroners office has been advised and police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call their office at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
