Nanaimo Driver Tangles With Train

For the second time in less than two weeks a female has escaped with relatively minor injuries after colliding her car with a Southern Railways train.

Police and Nanaimo Fire along with BC Ambulance attended to a report a vehicle versus train accident at the railway crossing located at Townsite Rd near Terminal Ave. A 38 year old female was waiting to cross the intersection when she decided at the last second to cross and was struck broad side by the liner. Her and her vehicle were then dragged approximately 100 meters north along the rail way tracks .The vehicle came to a rest behind the Port Of Call motel.

The female was removed from the vehicle by BC Ambulance paramedics and treated for minor whiplash. She was then escorted to hospital for observation. Her vehicle a 2001 Saturn suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene. Charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle.
