STATUE ORDERED REMOVED

PIRATE STATUE JUST NOTICED

It is reported in the local daily that the city bylaw officer 'just noticed' the pirate statue in front of Pirate Chips restaurant downtown.

This sign has been in front of this business for over a year and is just around the corner from City Hall; making it kinda peculiar it would now be the subject of a removal order.

They say it is supposed to represent former flamboyant mayor Frank Ney, but personally I don't see the resemblance. Nor do I see the problem with leaving the statue where it is, he is clearly not going anywhere and is not blocking the use of the sidewalk.

Lighten up Mr. Bylaw Officer, it adds a little character to our downtown streets.
