BC FERRIES TO PROVIDE EXTRA SAILINGS
FOR VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPICS

Early morning and late night sailings planned from February 12 to 28, 2010

BC Ferries is pleased to announce that it will provide extra sailings during Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in order to make ferry travel easy during this world-scale event.

Tickets for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games go on sale on Friday, October 3, and BC Ferries wants to ensure that residents and visitors to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast will be able to attend these historic sporting events.

These are the highlights of the additional sailings from February 12 to 28, 2010:
Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route:

• 6:00 am sailings from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen daily
• Midnight sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay daily
• Additional sailings during the day on Fridays and Sundays to accommodate increased traffic to and from Vancouver Island
Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay route:
• Midnight sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay daily
Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route:
• 11:00 pm sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale daily

“BC Ferries is pleased to offer these additional sailings so Olympic ticketholders and event participants can attend the festivities knowing they’ll get there on time and that they’ll get home at night,” said David L. Hahn, BC Ferries’ President and CEO. “There will be tremendous pressure on traffic and accommodations during the Games. By making these enhancements to our schedules, we’ll make it easier for people to get to and from the events during the busiest periods.”

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be a once in a lifetime event for all British Columbians and BC Ferries wants to be part of your Olympic experience. BC Ferries’ new Coastal-class vessels, wrapped in their massive photographic invitations to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, will be your vehicle to get there. Editor's Comment: I guess this is supposed to offset the news our brand new ferries are going to be parked for a good part of the season and our regular sailings are being cut back also. I wonder if those $45,000, $1500 per day directors are steering this company properly or if we are headed for a reef!
