FIRE PREVENTION WEEK IN NANAIMO


Fire Prevention Week - Oct. 5th to Oct. 11th

Nanaimo Fire Rescue has teamed up with the Nanaimo Fire Prevention Association from October 5th to 11th to urge Nanaimo Residents to "Prevent Home Fires" during Fire Prevention Week. This year's campaign focuses on preventing all the leading causes of home fires - cooking, heating, electrical equipment and smoking materials."

The Great Community Fire Drill!

In addition, Nanaimo Fire Rescue and fire departments from across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are hosting an Islands-wide Great Community Fire Escape Drill on Wednesday, October 8th as part of Fire Prevention Week. At 6:20 The Wave, 102.3 and The Wolf 106.9 will air the sound of a smoke alarm and an announcement to remind Nanaimo residents to test their smoke alarms and practice their home escape plans. Nanaimo Fire Rescue encourages all residents to participate in this drill.
