RCMP SEEK HIT AND RUN DRIVER

OLDER LIGHT COLOURED STATION WAGON

POSSIBLY AN EARLY '80's VOLVO

Duncan, BC - As a result of serious injuries sustained during a hit and run collision, Emerson HARRY, 13 years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition. The boy’s family and Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle, and identifying the driver.

At 10:30 pm on Friday, September 19th, members of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were flagged down by witnesses to a pedestrian hit and run collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Trunk Road, in Duncan, BC. Witnesses reported seeing Emerson cross the highway, within a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 1. The boy sustained significant injuries, and remains hospitalized, in serious condition.

The suspect vehicle has been described as an older model (early 80's), light colored station wagon, possibly a Volvo. RCMP Collision Analysts advise the vehicle is likely to have sustained moderate to severe front end damage as a result of the collision. To date, investigators have located and eliminated over 125 vehicles in the south Island area that match the description of the suspect vehicle provided by witnesses.

The victim’s family, and police appeal to the public for their assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this hit and run.
