NANAIMO GAS PRICES STILL TOO HIGH

BEING HOSED AT THE PUMP

While all drivers are relieved we are no longer paying the $1.50 price we saw last summer we are clearly still being over charged at the pump.

Oil prices have plummeted to less than $60 a barrel this week and pump prices once again are failing to keep pace. Remember how the price jumped when there was the 'threat' of hurricane damage when 'Ike' came to town? Prices jumped about 15 cents in one day at a time there had never been any difference in the supply at all.

So how come price increases are immediately seen at the pump while decreases take weeks and months to be seen at the pump? We have been sold a lot of nonsense by the oil companies whose only interest is to continue to squeeze as many pennies as they can from the system.

During this time of economic uncertainty I hope someone looks at the role high oil prices have played over the past years. One problem is that all levels of government have their fingers in the gas price pie and no one is really looking out for 'Joe' consumer.

So why is gas selling for so much less in Ottawa? Could it be because of all the political clout the locals have there? The lowest price in BC is listed on Gas Buddy as being 82.9 in Abbotsford and in Port Alberni one station is pumping at 87.9. So why are Nanaimo drivers once again being hosed at the pumps?
