NANAIMO HOME INVASION


ARMED MEN ROB HOME AND OCCUPANTS

Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a home invasion that occurred Nov. 17 in which three armed men kicked there way into a residence and made off with money and electronics.

Shortly before 7 pm a 911 call came from a residence in the 500 block of Rosehill St. The caller said three armed men had entered the rooming house , tied up the occupants and had fled in a vehicle. Officers attended along with Police Dog Services but were unable to locate the suspects.


Witnesses to the incident said several occupants of the residence were sitting in the kitchen when the back door suddenly flew open and three masked men, one armed with a shotgun, the other two brandishing pistols made their way in.

They proceeded to tie the two men up with zap straps then emptied their pockets and wallets of an undisclosed amount of cash and prescription drugs. A third occupant of was located in an upper level room and was forcibly thrown down a flight of stairs, luckily avoiding any major injury.


A few minutes later three other persons came to the residence and were confronted by the suspects. They to were tied up with zap straps. One of the victims was carrying a laptop computer and that forcibly taken by the suspects.

The three males then fled through the back door to a waiting newer model, dark colored SUV. They were last seen driving west bound along the alley way between Rosehill St and Bradley St.


The three males were described as being Caucasian. One was approximately 6 ft with blonde hair and was wearing a bandana over the lower half of his face. The other two wore dark colored balaclava’s and were 5 ft 7 to 5 ft 8. All had on dark clothing and the firearms were described as being black.

The Nanaimo Forensics Unit attended along with the Serious Crime Unit and are actively perusing the investigation.
