NEW NANAIMO MAYOR AND COUNCIL

NEW CITY COUNCIL MEETS DEC. 1./08

The new Mayor and City Council officially take over the business of running our city on Dec. 1/08.

They will be meeting in the Shaw Auditorium in the PNC at 80 Commercial St. with the meeting underway at 7:00 pm.

While there are many issues facing the new council including pending tax increases, the number one issue during the campaign became the hotel deal with Millennium Corp.

During the election campaign most candidates said this was an issue requiring prompt action on the part of the new Council as Millennium have missed deadline after deadline. What action should be taken varied with some of the new Councillors but all agree action needs taking.

Taxes, taxes, taxes will of course be high on the new Council's hit parade and it will prove interesting to see how much, if any, tax reductions may come our way as a result of sharper pencils.
What do you think the issues are? You are invited to voice you opinion by sending a short email to admin@nanaimoblog.com.
