Pirate Statue to Return Downtown?It is reported in the local daily that Pirate Chips owner Angela Negrin will be returning the colorful statue next Monday.
It had been removed after City staff said it was a sign and as such was unlawful. It had been sitting there for years without notice and the timing of the removal order was suspect.
In a previous post on this blog I suggested staff lighten up as the statue clearly adds something to the downtown. Perhaps removing the sign and just leaving the statue would be more acceptable.
There also was an ongoing battle with Negrin and former mayor Gary Korpan over a bumper sticker Negrin had in her window. She claims the sticker meant no reference to Korpan, (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
