RCMP 'Green Team' Sieze 2917 Plants

Green Team Efforts Yield

9 Arrests and 13 Drug Charges

The Nanaimo Green team announced their interim statistics from what can only be described as a successful drug sweep.

The team consisting of a number of full time members complimented with members from other sections, brought in to gain valuable insight and knowledge, participated in nine search warrants carried out over a six week period beginnig in late January.

In total, nine homes were were searched and 2917 plants in various stages of growth seized. Approximately five pounds of dried marihuana was located along with 101 lights and $17,600 dollars in Canadian currency.

Nine individuals,five males adults and four adult females all residents of Nanaimo were arrested without incident and charged with either Cultivation or Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act(CDSA) resulting in thirteen(13) charges.

Along with the drug charges their were nine Criminal Code charges laid and these ranged from weapons offences, Possession of Stolen Property and Theft of Hydro.

34 weapons were located during these searches namely handguns and long guns including from one residence a cross bow and a Push stun Taser.
