Urns and Ashes Found

Nanaimo RCMP Seek Public Help

Identifying Urns and Ashes

The Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two found Urns containing ashes along the southern shoreline of Nanaimo in late 2008.

The first urn was found near the Cedar boat ramp on October 31,2008 .It was marked with a registration number 82509 and the name Vivian Mary Russell of Maple Ridge. Unfortunately when officers attempted to locate a next of kin through Vital Statistics there were no matches found.

The second urn was found on November 2,2008 and again in the Cedar area, this time on the beach at the end of Barnes Rd. This urn had no identifying marking or registration number.

“We are confident there is someone out there who knows something about the urns and would want them returned to them rather than having them sit in our exhibit locker“” said Constable Gary O’Brien media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.The attached photos depict both urns and if anyone has information that can assist in the investigation please contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote the file number.
