Explore the Potential for Integrated Arts
with Odette Laramee

So, what is/are integrated arts? According to the Canada Council for the Arts, integrated arts combine art forms and integrate existing art forms into a new form, including interdisciplinary content, multidisciplinary content and multidisciplinary structure. From the point of view of Nanaimo Arts Council manager Odette Laramee, the term means “a plethora of exciting possibilities for artists and their communities”.

In 2008, the Nanaimo Arts Council developed a program entitled Key of Three. Nine professional artists had the opportunity to develop performances that fostered expression of shared creativity across artistic disciplines. This presentation will give you an opportunity to explore ideas for juxtaposing art forms as we consider a model for the proposed project Key of Three 2009 /// Circles In Our Community. How would you work with three groups of three artists who practice three different disciplines, in order to develop three pieces that juxtapose their traditional disciplines in a new way? Join us for Creative Currents on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This session will be held at the Harbourfront library upstairs in the 2nd floor meeting room.

Admission is free. To register phone the Nanaimo Arts Council at 729-3947 before April 10th.
