Nanaimo - Found urns turned over to grateful family

Two creamation urns found by beach combers and turned over to Nanaimo RCMP in October of 2008 have finally been turned over to family members.

Nanaimo RCMP reported on the odd finding on March 13th and the resulting media coverage resulted in a family member contacting the local Detachment and the urns were handed over last week.

Relatives of the deceased have asked for details of how the urns ended up on a beach in Cedar to not be made public. They are however eternally grateful for the efforts taken by the Nanaimo RCMP in finding the rightful owners. Both urns are from the same family and the deceased did not reside locally .

"We are pleased to have been able to bring closure to the remaining family members. It must have been extremely difficult for them not knowing what came of the ashes of thier loved ones" commented Cst Gary O'Brien Media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
