Empire Day Parade Huge Success

EVERYONE LOVES A PARADE!

There was barely a spot left to sit or stand along Commercial Street as thousands of Nanaimo residents turned out to enjoy the 142nd annual Empire Day Parade.

The weather could absolutely not have been any better, in fact yours truly forgot sunscreen or a hat, as my brilliant red nose will attest to.

Crowds were treated to motorcycle drill team precision riding, clowns, floats, fire engines, marching bands and of course a visit from Royalty in the form of Queen Victoria and the May Queen and her court. There was also another king in the parade, which I had heard was actually dead, but I guess not as I saw him with my own two eyes.

Kudo's to all the hard working folk at the Empire Day Society who put so much time and effort into making this delightful family event possible.

A full pictorial of this years parade can be seen on www.nanaimo-info.com if you missed the parade. It's not nearly as much fun as being there but gives you an idea of the time and effort people put into this great annual event.
