Nanaimo Hit and Run Pedestrian Accident

Pedestrian Struck Sunday Night
After Fireworks Downtown

An 18 year old male is recovering in hospital with a broken leg after being struck by a vehicle in a hit and run accident last night.

At approximately 10:30 pm the male attempted to cross over two lanes of northbound traffic on the Pearson bridge located near the intersection of Terminal Ave and Comox Rd. As he crossed there were two north bound vehicles approaching his location. One managed to stop and avoided colliding with him. The other vehicle however did not stop in time and struck the male leaving him with a broken leg.The vehicle then carried on north along Terminal Ave.

The suspect vehicle was described by witnesses as being a newer model white Chrysler 300. No plate was obtained and there was no indication from witnesses who was driving or the number of occupants in the vehicle .It is believed the vehicle sustained some front end damage from the collision.

The male victim was treated at scene by police and BC Ambulance and later transported to hospital. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the males decision to cross the two lanes of highway.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or send your tip to www.nanaimocrimestoppers.ca
