Youths Burned In 'Mindless' Attack

Dover & Lewis Rd. Area of Attack

Two Nanaimo males are lucky to have escaped with minor injuries after a “fireball “ was thrown at them Saturday night causing some facial burning.

The two males ages 14 and 15 told investigators they were walking home along Dover Rd near Lewis Rd at approximately 9 pm when four caucasian males approached on foot. The males then threw an unknown accelerant at them which caused some burning to both of their faces.

The victims went to their homes where their parents called police and fire responders. The parents then took them to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for treatment where boh were treated by emergency room physicians then later released. The burns were not considered life threatening and it is not believed there will be any permanent scaring. Investigators were unable to identity the source of the accelerant.

The suspect males are described as being in their early twenties, wearing dark hoodies and clothing. The victims said the four looked and acted like they had been drinking alcohol and were unknown to the victims.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers TIPS can also be forwarded to a secure website at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com

Editor's Comment: Isn't that the 'good' part of town? Wonder if those punks were wearing designer hoodies?? Parents - - - do you know where your little darlings are and what they are up to?
