Discovery Coast Passage

BC FERRIES’
DISCOVERY COAST PASSAGE

SUMMER SERVICE BEGINS TODAY

BC Ferries’ Discovery Coast Passage begins today, connecting Port Hardy and Bella Coola with several mid-coast stops in between. This summer only route sails from now until September 7, 2009.

The Discovery Coast Passage is an ideal journey for outdoor enthusiasts. View wildlife on a Klemtu eco-tour in the Great Bear Rainforest, take in the Bella Coola Rodeo, or hike in Ocean Falls. Kayakers are able to “wet-launch” from the Queen of Chilliwack, which services this route.

“The journey showcases spectacular scenery of the long fjords and narrow channels of the rugged mid-coast,” said Janet Carson, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Marketing and Travel Services. “With Orca, seal and other wildlife sightings, the Discovery Coast Passage is an outdoor experience second to none.”

BC Ferries’ service provides a perfect opportunity for a circle tour through the Cariboo, Chilcotin and central coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola is the gateway to explore cattle country and even a gold rush trail.

The Discovery Coast Passage route delivers three round trips per week between Port Hardy and Bella Coola with stops at the coastal villages of Bella Bella, Shearwater, Klemtu and Ocean Falls on specific dates. The Queen of Chilliwack offers comfortable sleeper seats, coin-operated showers and barbecues hosted by the crew on the outer deck of the vessel.

Reservations are required on this route and may be made at www.bcferries.com or by calling toll-free to 1-888-223-3779. BC Ferries’ Customer Sales and Service representatives are available seven days per week.
