Annual Silly Boat Regatta This Weekend

Popular Event
Should Be Bigger Than Ever

The Nanaimo Child Development Center's annual fun fundraiser will be in Maffeo Sutton Park this coming weekend.

The event which started in 1984 when it first raised $4,000 has grown to the point it hosts nearly 10,000 spectators and participants and last year raised over $70,000.00 for the center.

Saturday from 2:00 - 6:00 pm will feature musical performances and from 4:00 - 6:00 pm there is the Gilligan's Island look-a-like contest with the winners going on a three hour curise aboard the real S.S. Minnow from TV fame.

Sunday there will be fun all day from 8:00am - 4:00pm with boat building starting at 8:00am and races getting underway from 1:00 - 3:00pm. In addition to the races there will be lots of fun things to do all day long.

So come early and enjoy a great event on Nanaimo's popular waterfront.
