EYE In The Sky Over NanaimoLast evening at approximately 6:30pm the missus and me were enjoying an early evening walk at Maffeo Sutton Park and Syw-a-lana Lagoon when we saw this plane circle over the harbour area three times.
At first I thought it was the Mars water bomber based on it's size and fairly slow airspeed but it was soon evident it was not the water bomber.
It made three long slow sweeping passes over the downtown Nanaimo area circling the harbour with each pass.
It is clearly identified as a Surveillance aircraft and displays the Canadian flag.
Does anyone know where this plane is from and what it was doing over Nanaimo on Thursday evening? Were they involved with some type of search and rescue mission or were they just keeping an eye on us???
Its a Transport Canada plane that looks for ships polluting the water at sea.
