Keeping Your Cool In Nanaimo

Westwood Lake A Popular
Freshwater Swimmin' Hole

Piper's Lagoon Offers Saltwater Refreshing

The rest of this week looks like it is going to be a scorcher which is great news unless you are working on a roof or laying hot asphalt!

Fortunately Nanaimo offers a wide range of cooling off spots giving residents the choice between freshwater, saltwater, indoor pools and the ever popular spray parks around the city for the young 'uns.

A few popular choices for freshwater include Westwood Lake, Colliery Dam, Diver's Lake and Long Lake.

In the saltwater category there is Swy-a-lana Lagoon, Departure Bay Beach and Piper's Lagoon Park, all being popular with saltwater enthusiasts.

There are many 'spray parks' around Nanaimo where your kids can safely go and just cool off running through some of the best sprinklers around.

There is an outdoor pool at Bowen Park and indoor pools at Beban and the new Center in Harewood.

Of course if you don't have the time to travel you can always just hook up the garden hose to your lawn sprinkler and let the kids invent their own fun! Works every time!

Don't forget your family pet during these long hot summer days, they need cooling off also, and make sure they have plenty of freshwater to drink and don't leave them in a closed up automobile.
