Nanaimo Recycles Kitchen Scraps

Organic Recycling Program
Goes City-Wide Spring 2010

Next spring Nanaimo residents will also be able to put out their kitchen scraps with their old newspapers and other recyclables.

The organic recycling program which included about 2,000 homes has proven so successful it will be expanded to cover the whole city.

There will be a one time $30 setup fee when the program starts to cover the cost of the bin etc.

The program is expected to divert literally tonnes of food waste from the landfill site to the RDN's composting facility contractor.
