'YA GOTTA LUV ITHow many different ways can you say this Nanaimo summer weather has been and continues to be absolutely fantastic! We are used to being the envy of Canada for our winter weather and now it looks like our summer will provide another reason to brag about living in the best city in Canada in the best part of Canada.
It promises to continue through what is an event-packed weekend in Nanaimo with the Silly Boat Regatta promising to be the highlight of the weekend.
In addition there is the cannon firing at noon by the Bastion preceded by a highland dance demonstration at 11:30 on Thurs. and Sat., the opening of the Rocket Richard exhibit at the Nanaimo Museum in conjunction with the Museums celebration which includes free cake for everyone! While you are downtown you might want to take a tour of the Bastion. It is an amazing building constructed without nails and hewn and erected without the aid of modern machinery.
There is also the 'Art in the Park' outdoor art market downtown at the boat basin, featuring many different type of local art. It is there every Sat. and Sun. in the afternoon.
In addition to all of the 'planned' events there are Nanaimo's famous waterfront parks, beaches on both fresh and saltwater and acres and acres of quiet parks to just relax and enjoy all of creation.
