'Rocket" Richard Exhibit Opens This Saturday

"Rocket" Richard:
The Legend -The Legacy

The Nanaimo Museum will be opening their largest feature exhibit this weekend with the showing of the Rocket Richard exhibit.

The Montreal Canadiens hockey star held many NHL records, two of which still stand to this day. He was the first to score 50 goals in one season doing so in 50 games.

He was also the first to score 500 goals in a career. When he finished his career he had scored a total of 544 goals with 82 of them during the playoffs. He won the Stanley Cup 8 times in Montreal and was the team captain of 5 straight cup wins from 1956 - 1960.

The largest salary he ever earned was $25,000 which would be the equivalent of $200,000 today, a far cry from the huge sums paid to the stars of today.

If you are an old time hockey fan you will surely enjoy this trip down memory lane, and if you are a young fan you will also enjoy the exhibit.
