BC Ferries Expects Busy Weekend

Reservations Recommended At Peak Times

BC Ferries is advising customers that the upcoming August 28 – 29 weekend is expected to be extremely busy on the major routes connecting Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

Several events including the PNE and the AC/DC concert are expected to generate extra traffic heading over to the Lower Mainland. In addition, many families are enjoying one of the last weekends of the summer, which can often include ferry travel.

If customers desire a specific sailing for their weekend plans, reservations are recommended. There is reservation space still available this weekend, particularly on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route.

Passengers with vehicle reservations must arrive at the ticket booth at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to claim their reservation, and non-reserved passengers should arrive at the ticket booth at least 60 minutes before the scheduled sailing.

Heavy foot passenger traffic is also anticipated this weekend. Customers travelling as foot passengers are advised to arrive at the terminals at least 30 minutes in advance. During the busiest travel times, pick-up and drop-off areas can be congested so early arrival is recommended.

BC Ferries’ full summer schedule is in effect through the Labour Day weekend. For schedule details use this Nanaimo Info LINK.
