Harmac Goes Against The Trend
It is reported that employee-owned Harmac Pulp Mill will be starting a second line this September. Currently maintenance personnel have been called back to work to get the line ready for production.
Pulp prices have risen from $500 tonne in January to an expected $650 come mid September making the second line feasible.
This will mean a total of 265 workers will be employed by the mill when the second line starts up and will further mean that all of the previous employees wishing to return will now be employed.
In an industry struggling just to keep afloat it seems Harmac has gone against the trend and is proving to be a true home grown success story.
