Parksville Sand Sculpting Contest

It Doesn't Look Like Much Now

But these piles of sand are about to be transformed into wonder inspiring works of art over the next few days in Parksville.

The Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition gets underway Aug. 7 with the sand sculptures being on display until the end of August.

Visitors arrive from everywhere in the world to marvel at these unbelievable feats of artistry and engineering. The competition is open to professional/master level sculptors, and draws artists from around the globe. The competition itself lasts for 23 hours over 3 days. Gates open to the public starting at 2 pm, Saturday August 8th , however viewing can be seen through the fencing all day Friday August 7th and until 2 pm Saturday August 8th. The sculptures remain in place for three weeks following the competition. Admission to the venue is by a suggested donation of $2.00 per person.
