Challenge Other Island Detachments
To Meet or Beat $800 Donation

When a few good people put their minds together, great things can happen. This was the case for the Nanaimo RCMP who raised in less than 36 hours , $793.22 in support of the local Red Cross, Haiti relief fund .

Spearheaded by the employees of the Nanaimo Operational Communications Centre, a bake sale and fifty-fifty draw was initiated . Everyone in the office dug deep and contributed in one way or another. The final tally saw almost $800 dollars being raised.

Yesterday the money was turned over to Bob Dendoff a volunteer with the Red Cross Response Volunteer .The Red Cross will be matching this donation bringing the total to almost $1600 dollars.

"The Nanaimo RCMP challenge all other Detachments on Vancouver Island to either match or beat our donation. Its simply a win win situation. It will bring your office together for a great cause , you'll have some fun in the process and you know at the end of the day ,you will be making a difference where it matters the most " said Constable Gary O'Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
