Second Robbery In Four Months
The Nanaimo RCMP are appealing to the public for any information that will help solve a robbery at the Off Track Betting site on 121 Bastion Street where the manager was tied up and the business robbed of a large amount of cash.
On the evening of Thursday April 15th at 8:20pm a male in his 20's wearing a black hoody, entered the TBC Tele Theatre and accosted the lone manager as she was closing for the night. The manager was then tied up with electrical tape, the safe accessed and the cash taken. The male then quickly left on foot.
The distraught and traumatized victim managed to free herself minutes later and called 911. Police units, including the Nanaimo RCMP Dog Section, surrounded the area and an extensive search for the suspect was undertaken however the male was not located.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his 20's, 5'10" tall, with slim build. He was wearing the following very distinctive clothing: A black hooded sweatshirt with the large white letters “DC” on the front and white skateboarder shoes with green triangles .
This is the second robbery of this type that has happened at this particular business in a 4 month period. On December 10th a lone male employee was robbed at gunpoint as he was closing. After being ordered to open the safe the victim was tied up with duct tape and the business robbed of large quantity of cash.
