Nanaimo RCMP Safe at Play Colouring Book

Safety Messages For Children 5 - 7 years Old

Safety messages must be reiterated, often several times, before a child fully understands what they need to do and say in potentially harmful situations.  Parents and guardians are in the best position to discuss safety on a regular basis.  However, they are not always sure about what is appropriate to say to their children. The Safe at Play colouring book is designed to help parents and guardians to deliver personal safety messages to children ages 5 - 7 years.

Topic areas include:
  • police are your friend
  • why laws and rules are made
  • traffic safety
  • bicycle safety
  • pedestrian safety
  • home alone safety
  • good touch/bad touch.
At the bottom of each page in Safe at Play, there is a ‘note to parent' to help them with their approach to introducing the topic area. The back cover also includes additional parenting tips and a checklist.

Safe at Play has made its way across Canada with over 2 million copies produced over the past several years. Parents and communities are welcomed to print copies for their use.
