What Were They Thinking?

Six Rescued When Boat Capsizes

When the waves are literally washing over the dock of a sheltered mooring inside a protected harbour, what makes three sailor wannabes think they can cross the Straits in 90kmh winds? Did anyone on this vessel have sailing experience? I doubt it.

Anyway, these six foolish fellows (I presume they were all fellows) decided to finish an ill timed race by setting out to cross the Strait of Georgia in a 10 metre boat when even the ferries weren't running .

Short version, boat gets swamped (could be the 90kmh winds or the 4 metre swells) six fools wind up in the water. Others put their lives and limbs on the line to rescue the crew and all wind up alive and safe onshore, where they should have stayed in the first place.

Too bad the skipper couldn't be charged with 'dangerous sailing' or something and have his permit pulled for a year or two and perhaps levy a fine.
