Nanaimo Credit Card Factory Dismantled

 A search warrant carried out Saturday morning on a Minto Rd residence by Nanaimo RCMP Property Crime and General Duty members has disrupted a major fake credit card factory and has resulted in one of the accused already entering a guilty plea.

The residence located in the South Wellington area, was entered at approximately 10:15 on Saturday morning. Four persons were taken into custody without incident. Two others who arrived shortly after the search commenced were not arrested and were released unconditionally .

Seized from the home were several computers and hard drives, dozens of data storage devices, computer software programs , numerous gift cards and credit cards. Also located in the home was 4 to 5 grams of methamphetamine and 50 to 75 milliliters of GHB, also referred to as the date rape drug.


“It is believed by the investigators these persons were actively involved in the manufacturing of fake credit cards. The data used on these cards was taken from stolen credit cards and other pieces of identification. By disrupting this ring , it will certainly put a dent into credit card scams in and around Nanaimo for sometime” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.

Taken into custody was William Garnet MARKS age 50. MARKS then plead guilty and received six months in jail for Possessing Instruments to Forge/Falsify credit cards. Steven Wayne ALBISTON, age 32, was also charged with Possession of Instruments to Falsify or Forge credit cards. He was released from custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on May 12th. Aaron Jason WATSON age 30 was charged with Possession of a stolen credit card and the Unauthorized Use of credit data . He will return to court on July 20th and lastly Dawn Christina POUND, age 33, was charged with Possession of Instruments to Forge or Falsify Credit Cards. Her next court appearance is set for May 19th. Both MARKS and POUND reside at the Minto Rd home.

“Investigators feel it will take many weeks to process the data collected and are confident more charges will be laid once their investigation is complete. They are asking for the public not to call with inquiries about credit cards or information seized. If someone is connected to data obtained from the seized items, they will be notified said O’Brien.
