Nanaimo Fishing Holes

If You Like Fishing
You'll Love Nanaimo

Whether you are a novice fisherman or a seasoned veteran, whether you prefer saltwater or freshwater angling, Nanaimo has whatever kind of fishing your heart desires.

Ranging from pan fry size rainbow from one of the many stocked lakes, to the tackle busting Spring Salmon cruising the waters off Nanaimo's scenic shore, Nanaimo fishing truly has something for everyone.

Freshwater Fishing In Nanaimo's Stocked Lakes

An enjoyable way to introduce the newcomer to the joys of fishing is dropping a line in one of the several stocked freshwater lakes in Nanaimo. Westwood, Colliery, Long Lake, Diver's and Green are all stocked by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C.

The Society has released a total of 10,200 catchable size Rainbow Trout into these area lakes which greatly improves your chances of actually catching and not just fishing.

Depending on their age Rainbow Trout can range in length from 30 - 75cm with a maximum length of 90cm and range in weight from 1 - 7 kg for adults with a maximum of 9 kg.
