BC PST Relief Grant Ends June 30

The Provincial Sales Tax (PST) Relief Grant Program officially ends on June 30, 2010. It is important homeowners know that any renovation work completed by this date, where PST has been paid, may qualify for a rebate.

The PST Relief Grant Program, administered by the Homeowner Protection Office (HPO), provides grant assistance to owners of water-damaged homes who have undertaken building envelope renovations.

In order to qualify for a PST Relief Grant, the entire building envelope renovation does not have to be completed. Specific portions of the entire renovation may be eligible if they are completed and paid for by June 30.

Applications will be accepted by the HPO until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Proof of payment of the PST must accompany the application, and/or an estimate of the PST paid up to that date. The HPO will review these applications thoroughly to ensure that pre-payment of costs is not involved.

If the required documentation supporting the application is not available by June 30, those documents can be filed to the HPO by 4 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010, as long as an application was filed by June 30.

More information and PST Relief Grant Program application forms are available at http://www.hpo.bc.ca/Consumer/PST.php.
