Nanaimo Bastion Repairs

Bastion Repairs Get Underway

Clothed in the familiar 'leaky condo' screening, the historic Bastion repairs have begun. With an estimated total cost of $300,000, the Nanaimo Museum is currently hoping to raise the additional $160,000 needed to complete the project.

It was determined that the oldest building in Nanaimo was in need of repairs brought about by rot which had caused the building to begin to lean. I guess the powers that be didn't figure the 'Leaning Bastion of Nanaimo' was as safe as a much older leaning tower which has drawn tourists for decades.

When you consider it was built in 1853 it clearly has proven to be superior to all those 'modern' condos which have been built over the past twenty years or so.
