B.C. Lottery Site Hacked?

B.C. Lottery Says 'Privacy Breach'
At Online Gambling Site

It is now being reported that B.C. Lottery is admitting that 134 accounts were 'left exposed' when they launched their site last Thursday.

They say that 12 accounts had a measure of sensitive personal information viewed by another player. The site will not be restored until a solution is implemented that meets the highest levels of player protection.

I have long since known that a government agency couldn't run a successful popcorn stand let alone something as tricky as an online gambling site. You would think BEFORE they launched they would already have steps in place that met the highest levels of player protection.

Or would you? Perhaps this government is so desperate for cash that they are pushing to start collecting the 'tax on stupidity' before they have all their privacy issues in place.

If you are wise you might wait a long time before you trust this site with any personal info as clearly they have not employed state of the art safeguards to protect this site. I also wonder why we should believe that only 134 accounts were 'left exposed', since they already were not truthful about the reason for the site being down.

Perhaps the site actually was 'hacked' as some NDP members have speculated. You can bet this agency will try to put as much spin on this issue has they can.

B.C. has the dubious distinction of being the first government sanctioned full blown online gambling site. I wonder how long before they figure out how to open legal brothels to keep lining their coffers? They already are into alcohol and tobacco and lotteries, and now  casino gambling. All the things they used to put gangsters in jail for, not too long ago.
