On Nanaimo's Lovely Seawall
On A Sunny Day
On the weekend while attending the Silly Boat Regatta (with most of Nanaimo) I strolled along our most excellent waterfront in the inner harbour.
It truly is one of Nanaimo's more endearing features and I wonder if it is really appreciated by all those busy folk in such a hurry to go from here to there? Many seem to be using it much the same way you would use any city sidewalk, simply as a path from A to B.
Along the route I encountered two of Nanaimo's citizens which most people will just hurry past without a second glance, but I must say they were the two most memorable folk I saw that day.
One most pleasant fellow offers up melodies accompanied by at least a three piece band and greets all who pass by with a very warm greeting. Some respond, many just keep on their way. I hope he had a profitable day for his efforts as he certainly brightens up the place with his tunes, and friendly greeting.
The second lovely soul I encountered was busy going about her rounds, doing far more for the recycling effort than all the busy passers by. I couldn't help but notice that in the food area of Maffeo Sutton Park this year, there was a recycle bin labeled 'the bottle depot' I believe. I hope most people put their empty cans where this lovely lady could profit from them, since she puts forth much more effort than the folks who place the bin in the middle of a busy food court.
