Nanaimo's Hanging Baskets

Watering Baskets A Never Ending Job

Over 400 hanging baskets and other planters in the city of Nanaimo require constant care to keep lush and beautiful throughout the summer season. Since as we all know it only rains in Nanaimo in the winter (:^) the baskets need to be watered by hand over the summer.

That's where local horticulture company Lone Pine comes in with their truck capable of delivering 1,000 gallons of refreshing water to Nanaimo's hanging gardens. In the summer 4,000 gallons of water will be applied every 24 hours to keep the plants happy.

In this weather the baskets will be watered 4 times in a 7 day cycle or approximately every second day, with them being fertilized every two weeks.
