Rest Spots Aren't What They Used To Be

The Rest Spot at Long Lake on the Island Highway just north of Country Club Mall offers the traveling public a lovely place to stop and rest a spell.

It is located right on the edge of beautiful Long Lake where you may see a few glimpses of nature as ducks and geese frequent the area.

The large bear carving clearly has a 'BC feel' as he beckons road weary folk to stop and refresh. Easy highway access and lots of parking make it the ideal place to stop. There are six nice picnic tables where you can enjoy a lunch and lots of spots on the well cut grass to lay out a blanket and have a rest.

However, if you feel the need to use a rest room during your stop, you will just have to go down the road to the nearest service station as not even one portable toilet could be found at this otherwise lovely rest stop.

What are those in government thinking these days??
